Gaining Context

The point of this piece is to help you to understand why I recommend you to do the things under TO DOs. I’ll keep it short while mixing in my personal experiences.

The beginning of my PM journey was hard. None of my colleagues knew what product management was and I didn’t know how to start. I googled, joined slack groups, googled some more, and then I signed up for my first mock interview. It went like this:

Interviewer: How would you design a dating app?

Me: Oh I would probably using React Native and I’d have [lists some features].

...

Interviewer: Is that it?

Me: Yeah!

Interviewer: ...Do you know how a PM interview goes?

Me: Apparently not.
